MEPs adopt plan to keep 2020 EU funding for UK in no-deal Brexit scenario

At its plenary session earlier this week, the European Parliament adopted a contingency Regulation, which would allow the UK to continue participating in EU programmes next year in no-deal scenario, in return for continuing to contribute to the 2020 budget.

The draft regulation extends to 2020 the contingency plan approved by the European Parliament on 17 April 2019, previously limited to 2019, which aims to minimise any negative impact that the UK's withdrawal may have on beneficiaries of EU funding in case of a no-deal scenario. The measure includes programmes such as Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+ and is addressed in some technical notices published by the UK Government (e.g. the one on European Territorial Cooperation funding).
